Just got 6 yr old rescue dog, house trained but pees indoors for attention. Any ideas how to deter this?

She normally goes in the same place, but if I put paper/pads down, she'll go somewhere else. It's usually just before I go to bed (even if I let her out beforehand). Is this a boredom/attention thing, do you think?
