Any good, cheap places to stay in Seattle?

Hi there. We're planning a trip to Seattle in early October, and though I've lived there in the past, I can't seem to recall any cheap and friendly motels in the area we're staying. We're looking around the U-District, Capitol Hill, or downtown. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
